All photographs by Peter Hewitt

One year ago, on April 22, 2004, Queen Mary 2 sailed into New York harbor at the end of her maiden North Atlantic crossing between Southampton and New York. Three days later, on Sunday, April 25, she was joined in New York by Queen Elizabeth 2. It was the first time that the two Cunard liners were together in the same port.
One may access the photo essay of that occasion, as well as the tandem departure and crossing --- via this link.

On Saturday, April 16 of this year the two Queens were at Southampton together. Queen Elizabeth 2 had just completed her 2005 Round the World Cruise and Queen Mary 2 was on a turn-around at the start of her 2005 Atlantic crossing season. Once again Peter Hewitt was on hand in Southampton and we thank him for forwarded to us a wonderful group of his photographs from that day.
We are happy to share the following nine images from that collection.
