The funnel of QUEEN MARY 2 is "topped-off" and the tyfon horns are installed.
One of the tyfons is an almost 70 year old original steam tyfon from QUEEN MARY (1936).
Kockums of Sweden, the original manufacturer, built a duplicate and both were installed on the funnel of QM2.
Each tyfon horn is six feet, seven inches long and weighs approximately one ton.
The enormous sound of these tyfons (the note A - 2 octaves below middle C) will be heard for ten miles.
