Queen Elizabeth 2 Transatlantic November 2, 1980

On this day - November 2nd, 1980 - the liner QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 is preparing to sail,
reversing into the North River and heading on an eastbound transatlantic crossing to Cherbourg (Nov 7) and Southampton (Nov 8).
QUEEN ELIZABETH 2 at Berth 1, New York City Passenger Ship Terminal.
The great steam turbines begin to move the liner.
QE2, assisted as usual by Moran tugs, begins to depart.
QE2, moves out into the North River.
The early November sun fades as QE2 sails.
The great liner moves down the river as the sun sets.
