The following photographs were taken in New York Harbor in the Summer of 2001,
included are many interesting harbor scenes as well as three cruise liners.

The historic New York City fireboat JOHN J HARVEY saluting the cruiseship HORIZON
as she sails down the Hudson River in July 2001.
Beginning September 11, this fireboat, built in 1931, retired in 1995, worked ceaselessly, for days,
pumping water to the firehoses at the World Trade Center disaster site.
The Celebrity Cruise Lines HORIZON sailing out of New York for Bermuda.
She was one of the regular "Saturday Boats" during the 2001 Summer season.

On September 5, 2001 SS NORWAY sailed from New York,
on what was said to be her "Farewell Transatlantic Crossing".

As the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge looms ahead SS NORWAY progresses out of the harbor.
SS NORWAY sails under the famous bridge and is soon to taste the first waves of the Atlantic.
