SUNY Maritime Academy‘s 534-foot Empire State V is outbound for a summer semester cruise. She was ordered as the President Jackson for American President Lines, completed in 1952, served as the troopship USS Barrett and finally as maritime academy‘s training ship from 1973 to 1990. The Empire State V was scrapped in 2007.

Lykes Lines‘ Almeria Lykes is piled high with containers at Port Newark. Originally built in 1968 as the President McKinley, she was lengthened by 90 feet and converted to a container ship in 1972 and sold to Lykes in 1987. There were accommodations for 12 passengers

Bermuda Star Line‘s 13,680-ton Queen of Bermuda is outbound for Bermuda passing the World Financial Center. Built in 1958 for Moore-McCormack Line‘s as Brasil, she carried many different names along with sister Argentina, trading in 1989 as the Bermuda Star
